Mark Teaches Music offers beginning, intermediate, advanced, and professional-level lessons and bands for all styles and ages. We recommend music for people of all ages, from kids to teens to adults. We also recommend that students begin on the kind of instruments or voice that produce the music that they love, whether it be the blues, bluegrass, classical, rock, country, folk, gospel, jazz, pop, R&B, or any other genre.
Throughout the years, we've learned that musicians have the ability to play or sing three different ways:
- As a background to another instrument’s melody or a voice
- Lead playing or singing (where the instrument or voice has the solo over another rhythm)
- “Complete” pieces (where the musician is a true soloist doing the entire piece alone)
We look to foster these abilities in both in-studio lessons and group classes. We also offer consultations (one session without the obligation to continue), coaching & consultation sessions, and online lessons conducted over the Internet. In addition, we have exciting music seminars (master classes, workshops) twice a year that allow students to hear big ideas about music, increasing their knowledge and abilities to play or sing. In these music seminars, we might talk about improvisation, ear-training, specific skills for the instrumentalist, or how to practice better—all to give you teaching you can use right now.

Mr. Black utilizes a propriety curriculum that can be customized to each student’s unique skillset, musical interests, and aspirations.
