Summer time is the perfect time for fun and music at Promethean Studios. With four types of band camps (BIG Rock Band, Rock Band, Jazz Camp, and Summer Bands) and 7 camps for individual excellence (Guitar, Voice, Keyboard, Performance Club, Drums/Percussion, Bass, and Songwriting), Promethean is the place to be for summer learning, enjoyment, and advancement.
BIG Rock Band TM
All instruments and voice are welcome, kids and teens.

25 hours of music mania, when you really wanna rock! Be in a band with music you love and other people your age, like yourself, with a teacher to lead, supervise, and critique. Write a song, jam, learn your place in the band, understand music, learn to take solos and improvise, or just back your bros. Meeting each day for one week from 9 am to 2:30 pm - 5.5 hours a day. Last session includes a concert for your family and friends.
Band dates - 6.6, 6.27, 7.25.
BIG Rock Band TM members must play at least at a beginner level and must schedule a brief 3 minute placement audition before hand. Please call for audition dates.
Rock Band Camp All instruments and voice, kids and teens.

Just like BIG Rock Band TMbut doesn't take as much time every day. Be in a band with music you love and other people your age, like yourself, with a teacher to lead, supervise, and critique. Write a song, jam, learn your place in the band, understand music. Meeting 2 hours a day from 10 am to 12 pm for one week. Last session includes a concert for your family and friends.
Band dates - 6.13, 7.11, 8.1.

Summer Bands All instruments and voice are welcome, ALL AGES.

The difference between Summer Bands and BIG Rock Band TMand Rock Band Camp is that summer bands meet once a week in the evening for 10 one hour sessions. As always, performing with others, for others is one of the best things you can do to improve, even if you just want to play well at home. And dude, is it cool! Grab your ax and come on! The last lesson will be a concert for friends and family. All summer bands begin the week of June 6th.

Your instructor is Mark Black, who began playing jazz in 1974 and attended Loyola University in New Orleans, playing in the Jazz Band there, and performed in cities such as Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, Miami, Minneapolis, New Orleans, New York City, St. Louis, and Washington D.C. All instruments and voice. This camp will be split between developing a jazz combo and mastering jazz skills for each participant: improvisation, understanding scales, modes, and chord progressions, ‘comping, and stylistic abilities for each instrument and voice. Meeting 2 hours a day from 9:30 am to 11:30 am for one week. Last session includes a concert for your family and friends.

Music Camps Beginners to intermediates, all ages. $115
Promethean Summer Music Camps are special one week sessions for beginning players focused on establishing a firm foundation in playing/singing. Lots of fun, learn to play/sing/write and finish a song or 3. Meeting in 1 hour sessions once a day for a week, the last session for students ends in a concert. Camps offered this summer are Performance Club, bass, drums/percussion, guitar, piano/keyboard, songwriting, and voice:
Performance Club - Hone your skills and take your playing to the next level. You’ll perform and be critiqued every day with your fellow members. The last session is a concert for friends and family. Any style of music and any instrument or voice is welcome. And it’s a wonderful way to bring your abilities
up and to become comfortable performing in public. Materials needed: Notebook, pencil, your instrument or voice, any required cords to connect your instrument, and 4 or 5 songs to work on and perform for the club.
Dates: 7.18, 8.1. 1 - 2 pm.
Bass- Learn to play the Amazing Bass. We'll learn the names of the strings, the notes in first position, essential bass technique, how to keep rhythm, the bass's purpose in a band, essential patterns for rhythm and solo playing, how to read chord charts, and interesting bass riffs. Materials needed: a bass, instrument cord, notebook, pencil.
Dates: 7.18, 8.1. 12 - 1 pm.
Drums/Percussion- Trap set and hand drum playing. We
'll learn basic drumming patterns and rudiments, rhythm patterns, proper technique on various percussion instruments and the trap set, the drummer's place in the band, and some cool percussion/drum riffs. Materials needed: snare drum or practice pad, drum sticks, notebook, and pencil.
Dates: 6.20, 7.18. 1 - 2 pm, in Richardson.
Guitar- Learn to play the guitar, learn about music, learn cool songs. We'll learn basic chords, power chords and barre chords, lead and solo patterns, how to strum, how to take a solo, correct guitar technique, interesting guitar riffs, and several songs. Materials needed: a guitar, instrument cord if it is an electric guitar, notebook, pencil.
Dates: 6.13, 6.20, 7.11, 8.8. 12 - 1 pm.
Piano/Keyboard - Piano/keyb
oard playing with songs and styles you love. We'll learn the notes on the piano, how to read notes, proper piano technique, how to play rhythm piano, how to make chords, and how to accompany yourself or someone else on the piano, even a little about improvising and playing the blues! Materials needed: Notebook, pencil, and music paper (download at www.dallasmusiclessons.com/music-paper).

Songwriting - Learn to write songs and make your current songs better. We'll learn about lyric writing, harmony and melody writing and how to make your songs reflect the ideas in your heart and mind. Materials needed: a notebook, pencil, and music paper (download at www.dallasmusiclessons.com/music-paper), and songs or ideas for songs you may have already written.
Dates: 7.18, 8.1. 2 - 3 pm.
Voice- Mark Black
's videos on voice have been viewed over a million times on the internet. He believes you can sing! One week of sessions for beginning vocalists. We'll learn about breath control, how to sing in tune, projection, dynamics, developing excellent timbre, increasing range, and performance techniques. Materials needed: Notebook, pencil, and accompaniment tracks (karaoke, backing tracks) for 3 songs you'd like to sing - on CD or mp3 player.
