Promethean Studiosoffers beginning, intermediate, advanced, and professional level praise & worship lessons, praise bands, and camps for all ages; kids, teens, and adults. We also offer worship seminars for churches and ministries, directed at teaching your musicians to better lead your members. These seminars are usually on site, but can be taken as a worship class at our studios. We offer private and group instruction from experienced, friendly, awesome worship leaders and teachers. Mark Black, the founder of Promethean Studios, has lead worship for 35 years, been a music director for churches for 17 years, and has taught and played in scores of worship seminars and conferences across the Southeast and Southwest. He taught applied instruments, voice, theory, conducting, and song writing for 6 years at Christ for the Nations Institute, where he enjoyed teaching students from dozens of countries as diverse as Bhutan, Iceland, Japan, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, and Switzerland. He was also the instrumental director and led the orchestra there. We also teach praise and worship bands and music groups for all ages. And in the summer our teachers offer band camps which can be praise and worship bands. Our students’ lessons are customized for their specific desires and abilities, balancing progress and fun. We serve the entire Dallas area, with students from Addison, Allen, Carrollton, Farmer’s Branch, Frisco, Garland, Lewisville, McKinney, Park Cities, Plano, Richardson, Rowlett, Wylie, and their outlying communities.
We are the premier location in the Dallas Metroplex for praise & worship lessons, camps, praise bands, and worship seminars, at prices 20% less than comparable quality instruction. Lessons in studio, on site (for worship seminars) or live over the internet.

*Note: if you simply want to learn praise & worship music on your instrument or voice (not leading, but just learning music and worshiping God yourself, in private) then go to the instrument or voice you like (see the buttons on the left or at the top) and when you're in your lessons choose worship music or hymns for your songs. It'll be awesome.
Someone taking praise and worship lessons at Promethean Studios or attending a worship seminar by Promethean Studios is concentrating on learning to worship God and lead worship, either for themselves, a small group, youth group, a church, or an entire ministry. The worship leader, worship team, instrumentalist or vocalist who wants to master leading praise and worship music must understand the place of skill and ability in being able to lead others into worship. You have to agree that skill is a good thing, not just from man's perspective, but from God's. For any musician to be able relax into and enjoy his or her music, they must be able to play and/or sing it fairly easily, otherwise all of their attention is taken up with just getting through the song. This is doubly true for the worshiper who desires to put their attention on the Lord and perhaps lead God's people into His presence - you've got to be able to play and sing well enough to have something left over to worship and lead with. The musicians in the temple were skillful...1Ch 25:7 "Their number who were trained in singing to the LORD, with their relatives, all who were skillful, was 288". That's a lot of skilled musicians. This is not to say that musical skill qualifies someone to lead, or that only the skillful should lead, rather that the more skillful you are and the more you understand about God's gift of music, the more potential you have for being a vessel for the Lord musically. God made music; there's no reason other than God that all our instruments and singing don't sound like a cat fight in a garbage can. But God created the synchronicity that is music and so we can learn about it and master it for His glory. So there are ways to work with how God created music that bring it to its' greatest effectiveness. And you can learn those ways - and indeed you should learn those ways if you're going to lead other people, who are non-musicians yet moved by music, into God's presence. That's one of the things these lessons and worship seminars are about.
As teachers our praise and worship lessons and worship seminars generally include instruction in both the specifics of worship leading (song selection, intros, exits & transitions, music and personnel development, rehearsal techniques for worship groups, the role of music and musicians in church life, finding and following God’s anointing), understanding music theory (how God put together music and how to make that work for you), and creating and performing P&W sessions in the lesson or seminar.
Our worship seminars are typically for the worship team, praise band, or youth group of a church or ministry, but can be for the entire church itself. Most of our worship students take private, one-on-one lessons; we also offer group classes (when comparing studios online over the internet, be sure to clarify whether you are talking about private or group lessons. Semi-private lessons are group lessons). We offer consultations (one session without obligation to continue) and coaching sessions (multiple sessions without obligation to continue). We also offer elessons, which are online lessons conducted through the internet. We have gift certificates for all of these musical experiences. And twice a year we have exciting music seminars (master classes, workshops) for all students that allow them to hear big ideas about music in general and their instrument or voice. These increase their knowledge and abilities to play or sing. In these music seminars (again, like workshops or master classes, in-depth teaching on your instrument) we might talk about improvisation, or ear-training, or specific skills for the instrumentalist or vocalist or how to build a band – but all to give youteaching you can use right now. And they’re fun! About 40% of our students are adults and 60% are children, kids, and teens.
Our teachers take your goals seriously, so, as the wise mentors they are, they look ahead to teach you all you'll need to get where you want to be. It’s vital that musical educators coach each worship leader on how to grow as much as possible, whether that person just wants to lead home groups, bible studies, youth groups, worship teams, or run the entire worship ministry. So, coming from Addison, Allen, Carrollton, North Dallas, Farmer’s Branch, Frisco, Garland, Lewisville, McKinney, Park Cities, Plano, Richardson, Rowlett, Wylie or anywhere within 50 miles of here in Texas (or worldwide over the internet online through elessons) we are committed to your personal success.
We have praise & worship teachers at Promethean Studios for beginning, intermediate, advanced, and professional worship students and worship groupsand worship seminars. Our instructors customize our teaching to the music each player loves, with personalized instruction going on right now in Contemporary Christian, praise & worship, and traditional hymn styles. Each lesson includes worship leading technique (details of leading a service or youth worship service), instruction in music theory (to use the learner’s brain to help make music easy), and half of each lesson is devoted to the student’s songs.
While we never require anyone to play in public, we believe performing is one of the most important factors in producing someone who can actually playinstead of someone who just takes lessons, and so we provide two opportunities a year to be in a recital or concert for our private and group lesson students. We also put bands together with current students and people who don’t take courses with us, with a coach to mentor and lead, in praise & worship and otherstyles. Dedicated students of all styles may also be eligible for our performance clubs, in which students perform for their fellow learners with a master musician to critique, advise, and mentor on improving abilities. We also encourage all our musicians to participate in any musical competitions, concerts, worship groups, contests, festivals, improvisations, master classes, and performances we can find – BUT we never force anyone to perform. Performing is great to improve your skill level, but we encourage you to do it, not demand you do it.
To the student who says “teach me to lead worship",we would say this is the best school of music in the Metroplex. Our educators have made your success and enjoyment their goal. We are trying to cross the attitude of a music conservatory or music academy, even a university, with just worshipping the Lord in your room. Coming to lessons, improvisingat home, learning to praise the Lord, attending cool workshops and music seminars, learning great songs, cutting albums with your worship group - we want to produce students who worship, learn, and enjoy God's gift of music, all across Texas.
